The University Hospital Heidelberg is one of the major healthcare centers in Germany. The Department of Cardiology at Heidelberg University Hospital has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher to study immunotherapies in cardiovascular disease (PI: Dr. med. Kai-Uwe Jarr). The position offers an opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The Jarr Laboratory seeks to understand pathomechanisms of cardiovascular disease and develop innovative therapeutic approaches.

  • The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for applying, developing and optimizing state-of-the-art methods in cardio-immunology
  • The diversity of subject matter will require a creative mind who is dedicated to solving challenging problems in an interdisciplinary environment
  • The postdoctoral researcher will summarize the data and write manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
  • The postdoctoral researcher can resort to the expertise of renowned national and international research networks

  • The applicants should possess a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, life sciences, or a related field
  • The applicants should be highly motivated and be able to work constructively with others
  • The applicants should have a record of accomplishment that has either been published or is in press in regarded international journals
  • Animal and cell culture experiments, basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques as well as bioinformatic approaches will be necessary for this opportunity. Experience in the field of cardiology and/or immunology is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are crucial. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German are a plus
